To design, develop and deliver an iPhone App to make it easier for Trafford Council residents to access Council services.

  • Deliver an engaging and simple to use iPhone application, that allows customers to access information using location based GPS technology, as well as report problems and incidents directly from the iPhone.
  • Develop datasources and Web-Services to retreive real-time Trafford Council information.
  • Gain approval for the iPhone application and publish to Apple Store.

  • Customers are able to report problems directly from their handset with greater accuracy by including photographs and GPS coordinates.
  • Trafford Council have been able transform the way customers access services using technology reducing costs for providing the same service using alternative channels.

  • To project manage, design and architect new SMS banking service for all bank customers.
  • Develop XML interface between Bank of America / MBNA and SMS vendor.

  • Content management system to add new keywords for SMS banking
  • mCommerce system to enable customers to send keywords to the bank to retrieve real-time account details.
  • Integration with bank legacy and mainframe systems.

the project

This collaboration between NWeGG, Department for Transport, Greater Manchester Fire Service and Manchester City Council was to improve the dissemination of Roadworks information.

key deliverables

  • Perform a consultation to determine the usage of Roadworks data by all UK organisations.
  • Produce a draft XML Schema for Roadworks.
  • Gain approval for the Roadworks XML Schema as a new Government standard.
  • Deploy software/hardware to distribute XML Roadworks data from Manchester City Council to Great Manchester Fire Service.
